Construction has started on a new hotel at Budapest Ferenc Liszt Airport, developed by WING in cooperation with Budapest Airport. The new TRIBE is being built next to the ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel, which opened in 2018, located within walking distance from the entrance to Terminal 2. The 8000 square meters, functional design hotel with 167 rooms will offer both business and leisure travellers an outstanding guest experience, thanks to quality services and expanding conference capacities.
Hungary’s first airport hotel with a direct terminal connection, the ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel opened its doors in 2018, developed by WING Zrt. in cooperation with Budapest Airport. The 145-room hotel has received several awards since its opening and, based on its professional recognition and successful operation, a new TRIBE, also developed by WING, is coming to the airport, with a handover expected in 2025. In addition to the services provided to travelers, the TRIBE will offer a 150-seat conference room and two meeting rooms, a gym on the top, a 7th floor for sports enthusiasts and a sky bar for an outstanding gastronomic experience and fantastic views.
“The ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel, developed by our group, has been operating at almost full capacity since its opening, with excellent guest ratings. Based on existing guest demand and the success achieved, TRIBE will arrive in 2025. This will be the brand’s second unit in Hungary, alongside the hotel in the mixed-use Liberty building that we also developed. The existing ibis Styles and the new TRIBE will be directly connected, and the new complex will be an important milestone in the life of the airport; the development will further expand the airport infrastructure. The number of available rooms more than double and the additional high-quality services will enable the airport to meet the needs of its guests at a higher level,” said Noah Steinberg, the President and CEO of WING.
“For Budapest Airport, it is of utmost importance to provide passengers with quality services. To this end, we are continuously developing the airport, in cooperation with our partners and through joint thinking. There is an increasing need to expand services and capacities in and around the airport as passenger traffic increases; we were therefore delighted to welcome the plan to build a new hotel, which fits in well with our Terminal 3 project and forms part of our Airport City development,” emphasized René Droese, Chief Development Officer for Budapest Airport. He added: “We are confident that the TRIBE will offer excellent services to both business and leisure travelers.”
In addition to its rich historical heritage, Budapest is also a significant regional business centre. As the continuous success of ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel shows, the capital is increasingly popular with leisure and corporate travellers as well”, said Frank Reul, VP Development Accor Eastern Europe. „With a second property built in cooperation with Budapest Airport, we strengthen Accor’s presence in a strategic destination of Central and Eastern Europe. It is a unique opportunity to expand the portfolio of one of our fastest growing brands, TRIBE in Hungary as well”.
The TRIBE brand is at the forefront of stylish, functional design hotels, at affordable prices. The airport hotel will offer 167 rooms over 8000 square meters of floor space, with the brand’s signature community amenities and contemporary design concept. The hotel’s expanded services will be tailored primarily to business and transfer travelers, with a focus on maximum guest comfort; the spacious restaurant and lounge area will accommodate 140 people in total, while the terrace will seat 60.
Budapest Airport’s long-term development plans include not only the expansion of the passenger terminal, but also the related infrastructure and services. The airport operator developed the plans in such a way that another hotel building could be added, next to the first hotel. The area to be used for the hotel expansion is integrated into the development of the planned multistory car park, the central intermodal hub and the Airport City, with additional office buildings. The new hotel building continues the characteristic facade solutions of the ibis Styles, elegantly connecting the two buildings, with Aspectus Architect again being the designer. In terms of interior design, TRIBE marks a new direction, departing from the existing, clean ibis Styles interior design. Following the international TRIBE standard, a bolder and more dynamic interior design concept is implemented, with Ester's Partners being responsible for interior design. The hotel is being designed with sustainability in mind; it will be one of the first BREEAM certified hotels in Hungary.
Swietelsky Magyarország Kft. is carrying out the structural works of the hotel, with earthworks already underway. WING’s hotel branch has successfully completed four hotel projects with a total of 519 rooms to date. This year, this list will be further expanded with the ibis Budapest Stadium and TRIBE Budapest Stadium hotels (332 additional rooms). With the construction of TRIBE at the airport, the company will join the elite club of real estate developers that have already completed at least 1,000 hotel rooms.
