Accor is to open an ibis Styles hotel in Debrecen, E Hungary in 2025, thanks to an agreement with the Xanga Group, one of the largest investment and development groups in Eastern Hungary. It will be the first hotel in the immediate vicinity of Debrecen International Airport.

    The new hotel will have 73 rooms and 20 apartments on four floors. There will also be a restaurant, bar and café, and meeting rooms for business travelers. The ibis Styles hotel brand is part of the Accor group, with hotels in more than 45 countries and over 560 locations.

     XANGA, the former operator of the airport, has been developing turnkey industrial and logistics facilities for rental for more than two decades.

    Debrecen International Airport is the second most important international airport in Hungary, with more than 250,000 registered passengers in 2022 and 300,000 passengers expected in 2023. Industry estimates suggest, passenger traffic could return to 2019 levels around 2025 and reach 1.5-2 million by 2030.

    According to public company data, Debrecen International Airport Ltd. had a net turnover of HUF 1.8 billion in 2021 and a loss after tax of HUF 856 million. In 2022, the company's net sales amounted to HUF 2.45 billion and its after-tax loss to HUF 1.5 billion.

    Accor HotelServices Hungary Ltd, the operator of the hotel under construction, reported a loss of HUF 3.55 billion on revenue of HUF 4.4 billion in 2021 and a loss of HUF 4.1 billion on revenue of HUF 6.4 billion in 2022.
