Officially voted as the 2nd most beautiful Christmas market in Europe, the annual Advent Fair, for the 8th time, turns Budapest’s Basilica Square into a festive wonderland, evoking the sights and sounds of Christmas. Besides the unique 3D light paint projected on the facade of the Basilica, the spectacular seasonal meeting point offers free skating, special hand crafted items, local food and drink specialties until January 1.

Let yourself be enchanted! Take the time to stop and relax a little amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life and make the most of the holiday season. Bring your friends and colleagues, grab your family and come to the Basilica!

Every day between 4.30PM and 10.00PM, the facade of the Basilica will be flooded with lights and you will be able to admire one of the largest 3D light paintings in Central Europe. In addition, each day, the ice rink will be welcoming children under 14 years of age, with ice-skate rentals available and skating lessons during the weekends, all free of charge. The activities will also include cultural programs, flash mobs, dance performances, workshops and more. 

Organizers have made every effort to present a premier selection of gifts and delicacies, gourmet foods and spirits, even those with food allergies can choose from a wide array of vegetarian, gluten free, diabetic and vegan dishes. The Fair is an exceptional opportunity for those seeking to donate, help those in need. The Hungarian Interchurch Aid has been a partner of the event for seven years. This year, to their call, many activists, diplomats and celebrities joined to bake thousands of gingerbread hearts at the Fair’s bakery to raise funds for charity.
