Dynamic and destructive - Better Lovers in Budapest for the first time

14 April 2025

Better Lovers hit the audience with elemental force with their debut in 2023, and then finally earned the recognition of the audience and the industry with their album Highly Irresponsible, released last year. Having played in bands such as Every Time I Die and The Dilinger Escape Plan, the members of Better Lovers have all got a few miles on the hardcore genre, and they put it to good use in Better Lovers. They will be able to prove just how much on 10 October at the Akvárium Klub.

The Better Lovers are an American hardcore punk band formed after the break-up of Every Time I Die by vocalist Greg Puciato, guitarists Jordan Buckley and Will Putney, bassist Stephen Micciche and drummer Clayton Holyoak. By constantly inspiring each other to evolve, Better Lovers also challenge the hardcore scene to keep up. The members are driven by the same restless spirit and clear intent, rallying around a shared vision of creative fearlessness and relentless energy. This is evident in their first full-length album, Highly Irresponsible, released last year.

The band's story began in the winter of 2022 in Buffalo, where Jordan, Steve and Goose came together as old friends to jam, and their first song ideas began to take shape. Will was given the job of producer, and he soon got behind the guitar and officially joined the band with Greg. The band released their first song, 30 Under 13, in 2023, followed by the EP God Made Me An Animal. Metal Hammer wrote of the EP: “one of the finest examples of wild, modern hardcore you'll hear in 2023”. And Revolver described them as a fresh, hungry, blood hungry band. Kerrang! featured them on the cover of Kerrang! and their first tour was sold out.

They capitalised on this momentum and catalysed it with Highly Irresponsible. Putney once again took on the role of producer, and the bandmates wrote the 10 songs with their trademark intensity.

Putney notes, "Being a band member and producer is actually a real benefit for Better Lovers. We know so much about what we want to do and our creative process is so in sync and natural that we rarely hit a wall when we're working on music". Highly Irresponsible is a testament to this excellent synergy, being both dynamic and destructive. We can experience this fiery power live at the band's concert in Budapest on 10 October at the Akvárium Klub. The warm-up will be provided by 68.

Tickets will be first available for registreted Live Nation members from 10am on 15 April, while general ticket sale starts on 16 April 10am.
