Stereo MC’s are one of the best known British hip hop, electronic bands, and they have a hit song called Connected that will have been in the ears of anyone who was young in the early 90s. Stereo Mc's will be back to Budapest on 4 November at the A38 Ship to take you back in time and make you dance to their hits.
Stereo MC’s are probably the first band that comes to mind, with the song Connected, which is no wonder, as the 1992 single made the international Top 20. The album of the same title reached number 2 in the UK Albums Chart and the band took home the Brit Awards for Best Band and Best Album in 1994.
The band's founders, Rob and Nick, were childhood friends and neighbours, and formed Stereo Mc's in the mid-eighties. Their inspiration was their shared love of early hip hop, funk and electronic music. Their debut album 33-45-78 was released in 1989, followed by tours with De La Soul, Living Colour and A Certain Ratio. The duo then flew to New York to record their second album, Supernatural, which featured hits such as Elevate My Mind and Lost In Music, which became a club hit in both the UK and America. And their tour with Happy Mondays cemented their success. They have also remixed for Madonna, U2, David Holmes, Latifah, Terranova and The Jungle Brothers.
In 2015, they started their own label, Connected, with Terranova, to not only release their own music, but also to support house, techno and other electronic music artists as a label. In 2025, the band started touring the US and made a memorable appearance on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show, before heading to Europe in the autumn. They will be arriving on the A38 Ship on 4 November. Tickets go on sale on 28 March at 10am.
