After a busy summer, the fall has also started strong at Budapest Airport, with the winter schedule coming into force on the day of the clocks going back, on 29 October, offering plenty of surprises for those travelling from Budapest: 107 destinations from 36 airlines await those looking to get away from it all. Thanks to this broad and varied offer, Budapest airport is expected to handle over one million passengers a month during the winter season.

    Thanks to new connections accessible from Ferenc Liszt International Airport, the 2023-2024 winter schedule will cater both for the lovers of warmer weather and the northern landscapes, with plenty of opportunities to explore Europe’s popular capitals and the United Kingdom.

    Ryanair has launched flights to Tenerife, Alicante and Birmingham, while Wizz Air has added Sharm El Sheikh and Cairo in Egypt to its offer, alongside Glasgow and Copenhagen. Iberia, the Spanish national carrier, is increasing the frequency of its Madrid flights to daily, with Wizz Air implementing the same frequency increase on the Budapest-Dubai route. In addition to Wizz Air, Emirates and flydubai also operate flights to the most populous city in the UAE. Air Serbia operates eighteen flights a week to Belgrade in the winter schedule, offering excellent connections to Skopje, Sarajevo, Tirana and Tivat. Air France, the French national carrier, is increasing the frequency of its Paris flights to eighteen a week.

    As in the summer season, SunExpress’s Budapest-Antalya route and airBaltic’s flight to Riga will operate twice a week in the winter schedule.

    "With the end of the COVID pandemic, rapid growth has clearly started. While last year, we were 25% behind the year before the pandemic, this summer, traffic at Ferenc Liszt International Airport reached 90% of the record year 2019,” summarized Balázs Bogáts, chief commercial officer for Budapest Airport, in an interview with növekedés.hu. In connection with the winter schedule, which came into effect at the end of October, the expert pointed out: “The winter schedule includes a total of 107 destinations, with several airlines increasing frequencies. I feel that Budapest Airport is well on the way to attracting more passengers and flights to Hungary in the future, thus contributing to the development of the Hungarian national economy and tourism."

    Passengers can fly to 107 destinations in 98 cities from the Hungarian capital, thanks to which Budapest Airport forecasts a monthly passenger volume of more than one million passengers in the winter season as well.
