The name Kéhli has been synonymous with good Hungarian food and merriment since 1899, when the industrious and hospitable Kéhli family opened this restaurant in Óbuda (Old Buda). It was managed so well that “Mama (Granny) Kéhli” became a household name throughout Budapest. Today, the Cecei-Horváth family manages this restaurant and remains true to its century-old traditions. Gyula Krúdy, one of Hungary’s most famous writers who was a regular guest many years ago. His spirit can still be felt in the lively atmosphere.
